The REAL Kids Story

From one centre to a nationwide presence. This is the REAL Kids journey.

REAL Kids began in 1988 with our first centre in Subang Jaya and one simple belief: that every child deserves a meaningful, joyful start to learning. Today, we’re Malaysia’s largest owner-operated preschool group, with over 35 centres nationwide.

Each centre is thoughtfully designed to support how children learn best with bright, open classrooms, child-friendly facilities, and a warm, home-like environment.

With over 35 years of experience, we’re known for delivering holistic, high-quality early childhood education led by trained educators and guided by a proven curriculum to nurture not just academic success but also curiosity and creativity.

We’ve also worked closely with the Ministry of Education, ECCE Council, and World Bank to raise standards in early childhood education. At REAL Kids ...

we believe children learn best when the experience matches how they naturally explore the world. That’s why our early childhood education curriculum blends proven methods with real-world experiences, play, and discovery to spark curiosity and inspire learning.

Children learn primarily in either English or Mandarin. Regardless, they’re exposed to all three core languages—English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia—to build a strong, well-rounded trilingual foundation.

Beyond the Classroom

Learning isn’t limited to just classroom settings. In our preschool education centres, children explore gardens, outdoor spaces, and everyday environments, making real-life discoveries. These help children connect what they learn within the classroom to the world around them, and develop observation, curiosity, and confidence.

We believe children learn by doing. From building and experimenting to role playing and creative art, our project-based learning approach invites children to explore, ask questions, and create. It’s how they naturally develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Methodology

The REAL Way to Learn is Your Child’s Way

At REAL Kids, we believe every child has their own unique rich mix of strengths and intelligences, and they all learn differently. Some through movement and music, other through pictures or hands-on play. That's why our teaching is rooted in the Multiple Intelligences (MI) framework by psychologist Howard Gardner, which recognises that intelligence isn't one-size-fits-all.

By tapping into the different ways children absorb and express knowledge, we personalise the learning experience at REAL Kids to help each child thrive in areas they're naturally strong in, while gently guiding them to grow in others. With a strong focus on holistic development, our teachers use a variety of methods to build confidence, skills, and a lifelong love of learning.
